When will my Summit PLUS ship?
We currently expect rewards to begin shipping November 2026.
Manufacturing and international freight occasionally create delays, but this is far from our first production run. We have manufactured and delivered thousands of bags with our longtime production partner, and we will keep backers updated throughout the entire process.

Is the Summit PLUS the new version of the Explorer Plus?
Yes. Way back in 2018, it was called the Expeditioner. It eventually became the Explorer Plus. Now, after eight years of customer feedback and real-world travel, we have rebuilt it as the Summit PLUS.
Same general idea. Smarter execution. Better material. Less weight. More usable space.

What changed from the original Explorer Plus?
Quite a bit.
The Summit PLUS is taller, lighter, more durable, and made from an entirely new coated ripstop nylon. We also widened the toothbrush pocket, redesigned the razor pocket, increased the capacity of the back pocket, upgraded the hanging hardware, and completely rebuilt the included TSA bag.
It weighs just 8.3 oz compared to the original’s 12.6 oz.
We kept everything people loved and fixed the things they asked us to fix.

Why is the bag taller?
Electric toothbrushes.
The original could fit one, but depending on the model, you might have needed to remove the head or angle it into the pocket. The Summit PLUS is tall enough to fit most electric toothbrushes properly, with room for a full-size toothpaste beside them.
The added height also makes every other pocket more useful. A small change on paper. A massive improvement when you pack it.

Will my electric toothbrush fit?
Most likely, yes.
The dedicated toothbrush pocket was designed to fit most popular electric toothbrushes, including many Sonicare and Oral-B models. It can also hold a full-size toothpaste alongside the toothbrush.

Can it hold full-size toiletries?
Yes. The taller design allows the deep back pocket to fit many full-size shampoo, conditioner, and body-wash bottles.
That said, whether you should bring the family-size shampoo bottle is between you and your airline’s baggage allowance.

How much does it hold?
Enough for a full toiletry setup without turning into a giant bathroom duffel.
You can pack an electric toothbrush, full-size toothpaste, deodorant, razor, shaving cream, medications, hair products, skin care, and multiple liquid bottles while keeping everything separated and easy to reach.
It is built for people who want real capacity without one giant catch-all compartment.

Is the Summit PLUS waterproof?
The coated ripstop nylon and exterior waterproof zippers are built to handle wet counters, splashes, spills, and life around a shower.
The liquid compartments are designed to help contain leaks and keep the rest of your gear protected.

Is the included TSA bag actually TSA compliant?
Yes. It is designed for travel-size liquid containers and can be removed from the Summit PLUS when you go through airport security.

Can the Summit PLUS hang in a shower?
The stowaway seatbelt-webbing strap and aluminum G-hook let you hang it from a towel bar, shower rod, tree branch, door hook, or just about anything else you can find.
When you are done, the strap packs flat and out of the way.

Does it also lay flat?
Yes. Hang it when counter space is nonexistent. Lay it flat when you have room.
Either way, the pockets stay open and visible so you do not have to dig through a catchall bag.

Why are you launching this on Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is where Gravel started.
It allowed us to launch the original bag, listen directly to travelers, and build something that traditional brands were not making. Eight years later, we are coming back with everything those travelers taught us.

Which shipping carriers will you use?
Carrier selection will depend on the destination and fulfillment center. We work with established shipping partners and will provide tracking once your reward leaves the warehouse.

Are customs fees and taxes included?
International backers may be responsible for VAT, duties, import taxes, or other fees required by their country.

What happens if my address changes?
You will have an opportunity to confirm your shipping address after the campaign.
Once fulfillment begins, address changes become much harder and may not be possible after a reward has been packed or shipped. Please double-check everything when completing your survey.

Can I return or exchange a Kickstarter reward?
Kickstarter pledges help fund production and are not the same as traditional retail purchases. Because of that, campaign rewards generally cannot be returned simply because you changed your mind.
If your Summit PLUS arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact us. We will make it right.

Is it covered by Gravel’s lifetime warranty?
Yes.
If the Summit PLUS fails during normal use because of a problem with its materials or construction, let us know and we will take care of you.
A seam comes undone? We’ve got you. A zipper pull breaks? New ones are on the way.
The warranty does not cover airline destruction, hungry dogs, intentional modifications, normal cosmetic wear, or backing over it with your vehicle to test the ripstop.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
